The US Army has selected AeroVironment’s Switchblade 400 for its LASSO program, aimed at equipping brigade combat teams with precision strike capabilities. The system is a medium-range, man-portable loitering munition designed to engage armored targets with minimal collateral damage. Featuring autonomous targeting, advanced recognition systems, and compatibility with the Halo command-and-control ecosystem, the drone can operate in complex and contested environments. With a flight endurance of about 35 minutes and a range of up to 65 kilometers, it represents a significant evolution in tactical strike capabilities.
