Indian small arms manufacturer SSS Defence has strengthened its position in the domestic defense sector after successfully delivering additional G72 submachine guns to the Punjab Police. The development reflects growing confidence among Indian law enforcement agencies in locally produced weapon systems tailored for modern operational requirements. The G72 is chambered for the widely used 9x19mm NATO round and is optimized for urban warfare and close-quarter combat scenarios. Its roller-delayed blowback mechanism allows the weapon to deliver high firing rates while maintaining stability, accuracy, and manageable recoil during automatic engagements. The platform also features extensive modularity, including configurable barrels, ambidextrous controls, folding stocks, and multiple accessory rails that enable integration of suppressors, optics, and laser aiming systems. SSS Defence emphasized that the weapon has been refined through continuous feedback from operational users, ensuring suitability for police tactical units and special forces. The company has already secured interest from multiple Indian state police organizations and recently emerged as the lowest bidder for a substantial National Security Guard order. Industry observers view the success of the G72 program as evidence of India’s growing self-reliance in small arms manufacturing and tactical weapons development.
