The U.S. Marine Corps has deployed its new ACV-P Amphibious Combat Vehicle during ship-to-shore operations from USS Makin Island, demonstrating progress in modernizing amphibious warfare. Conducted during Quarterly Underway Amphibious Readiness Training 26.2, the exercise validated the integration of the wheeled ACV with Navy amphibious assault ships. The ACV-P is designed to replace the aging AAV-7A1, offering improved survivability, mobility, and reliability. Its 8×8 wheeled design enhances land performance while maintaining open-ocean capability, enabling Marines to project combat power ashore with greater protection and operational flexibility.
