General Dynamics Bath Iron Works has delivered the future USS Patrick Gallagher (DDG-127), the final Flight IIA destroyer in the US Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class program. Named in honor of Marine Corps Corporal Patrick Gallagher, a Vietnam War hero awarded the Navy Cross, the vessel was handed over ahead of schedule following successful sea trials. The destroyer represents the culmination of the Flight IIA production line and will eventually be based in Norfolk, Virginia, supporting the Navy’s global maritime operations.
