Navantia has signed a lifecycle support agreement with Naval Shipyards General Directorate to provide maintenance and technical assistance for the TCG Anadolu. The deal establishes a three-year framework, extendable by another three years, under which Navantia will deliver a wide range of services including maintenance, repairs, documentation updates, training, and both remote and on-site technical support. The flexible service structure allows the Turkish Navy to request support as needed, ensuring operational continuity and adaptability. TCG Anadolu, constructed at SEDEF shipyard, is based on the Juan Carlos I platform and integrates multiple Navantia-supplied systems such as diesel generators and integrated platform control systems. Since its commissioning, the vessel has undergone continuous upgrades, reflecting Turkey’s evolving maritime strategy. Notably, Turkish firm Baykar has successfully tested TB3 naval drones onboard, signaling a transition toward drone carrier operations. Additionally, Turkish Aerospace Industries is advancing the Kızılelma unmanned combat aircraft program, which is expected to operate from Anadolu. These developments indicate Turkey’s strategic shift toward integrating unmanned systems into naval operations, enhancing power projection and operational flexibility in regional waters.
