UAE defense group EDGE has launched a cooperation framework with the Brazilian Army to evaluate advanced small arms for special forces. Testing will take place in demanding field environments using high-pressure combat scenarios. Weapons under review include Caracal’s CAR 816 5.56 mm assault rifle and CSR50 12.7 mm anti-materiel sniper rifle, both built to NATO standards. EDGE said the program will help identify suitable systems for Brazilian forces while improving specialist troop capabilities in assault and precision fire roles. The initiative also supports knowledge sharing in engineering, logistics, and operational practices. Separately, EDGE recently partnered with Spain’s Indra and Brazil’s SIATT to study radar production in Brazil, aimed at boosting local industry and sovereign defense capacity.
