Teledyne FLIR Defense has signed a five-year contract to deliver Black Hornet 4 nano-drones for the US Army’s Soldier Borne Sensor program.
The nano-UAS are intended to enhance situational awareness for soldiers through portable, hand-launched reconnaissance.
An initial $25 million order includes drones, controllers, spares, and training.
If all options are exercised, the contract’s value could rise to $91 million.
Production will be handled in Norway, with deliveries of the first batch starting in September 2024.
The Black Hornet 4 provides critical surveillance capabilities while keeping operators protected.
