The US Army has awarded a $632 million contract to MSM North America, a subsidiary of Czechoslovak Group, to build an advanced large-caliber ammunition facility in Iowa. The project, called the Future Artillery Complex (FAC), will be established at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and is expected to be completed within 40 months. Scheduled to reach full-scale production by September 2029, the facility will utilize modern manufacturing and automation technologies to enhance efficiency. It will have the capacity to produce up to 36,000 155mm artillery shells per month, strengthening US and allied stockpiles at a time of heightened global tensions. The FAC represents a scalable, flexible solution for producing explosives and assembling artillery, ensuring long-term munitions resilience.
