British Army personnel have completed an intensive training program focused on autonomous logistics operations in preparation for participation in Project Convergence Capstone 6, an international military experimentation exercise. Conducted at the Combat Service Support Trials and Development Unit, the training familiarized soldiers with autonomous convoy operations using Rheinmetall’s PATH Autonomous Kit integrated onto HX2 military trucks. The autonomous driving technology combines artificial intelligence, advanced sensor suites, vehicle control software, and navigation systems to enable both independent vehicle movement and coordinated convoy operations under human supervision. Soldiers practiced a wide range of operational scenarios, including convoy command, safety monitoring, route management, obstacle avoidance, disabled vehicle recovery, and complex off-road navigation. The exercise supports Project MAIA, the British Army’s initiative to evaluate how autonomous ground vehicles can improve logistics efficiency, reduce personnel exposure to danger, and sustain military operations in contested environments. Successful integration of autonomous supply convoys is expected to enhance operational endurance while improving battlefield mobility and force protection during future multinational deployments.
