Belgium Procures Polaris MRZR D4 ATVs to Modernize Special Operations MobilityPolaris Government and Defense has secured a $10.6 million contract to deliver MRZR D4 tactical all-terrain vehicles to Belgium’s Special Operations Regiment, replacing the military’s aging Groundhog fleet with a more capable and adaptable mobility platform. The acquisition was made under the NATO Support and Procurement Agency’s procurement framework, enabling faster purchasing while promoting equipment standardization, interoperability, and lower lifecycle support costs across allied nations. Designed for demanding operational environments, the MRZR D4 combines high mobility with a lightweight modular design that allows transport aboard helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, and maritime platforms for rapid deployment worldwide. Equipped with a collapsible roll cage, selectable all-wheel drive, one-meter water-crossing capability, and a payload capacity of 680 kilograms, the vehicle is optimized for missions in remote and contested areas. Its 55-horsepower turbo-diesel engine provides a range of up to 322 kilometers while carrying four personnel. Beyond troop transport, the MRZR D4 can be configured for casualty evacuation, command and control, reconnaissance, communications, counter-drone operations, autonomous missions, medical support, light cargo transport, and weapons integration. The procurement significantly enhances Belgium’s special operations capabilities while aligning its tactical vehicle fleet with equipment already fielded by numerous NATO and allied military forces worldwide.
