Gentex Corporation has secured a five-year contract valued at 44.8 million dollars to continue supplying advanced helmet systems for US Army rotary-wing aviation crews. The agreement covers production of HGU-56/P helicopter helmets, Apache-specific helmet assemblies, spare components, and modernization kits designed to maintain long-term operational readiness. The lightweight helmet system integrates ballistic protection, advanced communications equipment, active noise reduction, dual protective visors, and compatibility with night vision devices while maintaining high levels of comfort for extended flight operations. Additional modular equipment, including facial protection, windblast shields, and enhanced low-light operational accessories, can be incorporated depending on mission requirements. Building on decades of collaboration with the US Army, the contract supports continued modernization of aviation life-support equipment that improves crew survivability, situational awareness, and operational effectiveness during demanding helicopter missions across diverse combat and humanitarian environments.
