Rolls-Royce Submarines has begun a major expansion of its Raynesway facility to significantly increase nuclear reactor production supporting the United Kingdom’s Astute and Dreadnought submarine programs as well as Australia’s future SSN-AUKUS fleet. The project will more than double manufacturing capacity through new production infrastructure, engineering facilities, and workforce expansion. As a critical component of the AUKUS security partnership, the investment strengthens long-term nuclear propulsion capabilities, enhances industrial resilience, and ensures sustained support for allied submarine modernization initiatives over the coming decades.
