Raytheon has successfully demonstrated the capabilities of its upcoming Next Generation Short Range Interceptor, bringing the replacement for the iconic Stinger missile another step closer to operational deployment. The latest testing confirmed the missile’s ability to rapidly acquire targets, maintain accurate tracking, and achieve successful interceptions against simulated airborne threats. Built around an improved launch assembly, advanced seeker technology, and a more efficient propulsion system, the interceptor is designed to provide soldiers with greater protection against drones, helicopters, and fast-moving aerial targets. As modern battlefields become increasingly saturated with unmanned systems and precision-guided weapons, the NGSRI promises to deliver improved mobility, higher accuracy, and enhanced defensive capability for ground forces operating in demanding combat environments.
