Denmark has selected Lockheed Martin’s TPY-4 ground-based air surveillance radar to strengthen national and NATO airspace monitoring across key northern regions. The agreement includes three radars, with an option for a fourth, covering Skagen, Bornholm, and the Faroe Islands. With surveillance ranges extending up to 1,000 kilometers, the TPY-4 will enhance Denmark’s ability to detect and track airborne threats across the Baltic Sea, North Atlantic, and Arctic regions. Parliament allocated approximately $236 million for the acquisition, reflecting Copenhagen’s broader defense modernization efforts. The radar deployments will support persistent surveillance and contribute to NATO’s collective security architecture, particularly in areas of heightened strategic sensitivity.
