Germany’s federal procurement authority has awarded Thales a contract to provide 60 Ground Observer 12 (GO12) battlefield radar systems to the German Armed Forces. The agreement includes spare parts, training packages, and support equipment, with deliveries planned for 2026 from Thales’ expanded Ditzingen production facility. The GO12 is a lightweight tactical reconnaissance radar capable of detecting drones, troops, vehicles, and helicopters across a 360-degree surveillance area. Designed for rapid deployment, the system can be carried by infantry teams and set up within minutes. Operating in the Ku-band, it provides target detection ranges of up to 8 kilometers for personnel and 16 kilometers for larger targets, maintaining effectiveness in darkness and adverse weather conditions.
