France has ordered 17 Saab Giraffe 1X radars to strengthen its short-range air defense and counter-drone capabilities with highly mobile surveillance systems. Under the agreement, Saab will deliver one unit for testing and 16 radars mounted on Scania V3P tactical vehicles for operational deployment. Deliveries are scheduled between 2026 and 2027 and include training, support, and spare parts. The compact 3D radar is designed to detect low-flying aircraft and drones while supporting rapid deployment in contested environments and protection of critical infrastructure.
