Embraer has completed the modernization of two Brazilian Army SABER M60 radar systems to the new 2.0 standard under a broader eight-unit upgrade program. The initiative is intended to extend service life while preserving Brazil’s short-range air defense capability through improved reliability, availability, and fleet standardization. The upgraded radars are already in operational use, with the remaining systems to follow. The SABER M60 is a 3D low-altitude surveillance and fire-control radar with a range of 60 kilometers and the ability to track 60 targets simultaneously. Hardware and software improvements include enhanced signal processing, stronger resistance to electronic interference, and a more user-friendly interface for fast-paced combat operations.
