The US Navy has awarded Gecko Robotics a contract worth up to $71 million to enhance fleet maintenance using AI and robotic inspection technologies. The five-year agreement will initially focus on assessing 18 ships within the Pacific Fleet. Gecko’s systems utilize wall-climbing robots, drones, and sensors to collect detailed structural data, which is then analyzed using artificial intelligence to identify defects and predict maintenance needs. This approach significantly reduces inspection time compared to traditional methods and helps improve fleet readiness. The contract supports the Navy’s goal of achieving higher operational availability.
