Kopin Corporation has announced plans to fully internalize OLED microdisplay manufacturing at its headquarters in Westborough, Massachusetts, following the acquisition of advanced OLED deposition equipment and supporting production systems. The move eliminates the company’s reliance on outsourced fabrication and responds to increasing demand from defense customers for secure domestic supply chains and faster production timelines. Kopin’s OLED microdisplays are widely used in applications including FPV drone systems, thermal weapon sights, and wearable battlefield equipment because of their compact size, low power consumption, and high-resolution imaging capabilities. By bringing production in-house, the company aims to improve manufacturing control, accelerate delivery schedules, and strengthen support for mission-critical military technologies that require trusted and resilient supply networks.
