Spain’s Indra and India’s Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) have successfully installed the first Lanza-N 3D surveillance radar for the Indian Navy, marking a significant milestone in bilateral defense cooperation. The radar, known for its long-range detection of aerial threats, is tailored for maritime operations and offers enhanced situational awareness for naval commanders. This achievement is part of a larger agreement to co-produce and integrate advanced radar systems into India’s naval fleet, supporting New Delhi’s push for indigenization under the “Make in India” initiative. By combining Indra’s technological expertise with BEL’s production capabilities, the program ensures technology transfer, local job creation, and sustainable supply chains. The Lanza-N radar enhances the Navy’s ability to detect and track fast-moving threats, including aircraft, drones, and missiles, thereby improving fleet protection and operational readiness.
