Lockheed Martin has awarded BAE Systems a $36-million contract to manufacture multifunction modular masts for Virginia-class submarines. The system is a reinforced RF antenna housed in a pressure-resistant composite radome, enabling the detection and analysis of adversary submarine emissions without surfacing. Designed for modular payload growth, the MMM integrates with the AN/BLQ-10 electronic warfare suite to expand the Navy’s underwater situational awareness. Production will occur at BAE sites in Hudson, Merrimack, and Nashua.
