The Netherlands has awarded Naval Group a contract to provide F21 heavyweight torpedoes for its future Orka-class submarine fleet. The agreement follows a Dutch government decision to arm the new submarines with the French-developed weapon, making the Netherlands the first NATO nation to operate the F21. Alongside the torpedoes, Naval Group will provide training, simulators, and long-term support services. The F21 was developed to replace the older F17 torpedo and combines anti-ship and anti-submarine warfare capabilities in a single design. With a range of up to 50 kilometers, speeds reaching 50 knots, and operating depths of up to 600 meters, the weapon significantly enhances undersea combat effectiveness.
