ST Engineering has launched the Republic of Singapore Navy’s second Victory-class Multi-Role Combat Vessel (MRCV), RSS Valour (89), at its Benoi Shipyard. The vessel is the second of six next-generation warships ordered under a program launched in 2023 to replace the navy’s aging Victory-class missile corvettes from 2028 onward. Designed as a command-and-control mothership, each MRCV will deploy and coordinate airborne, surface, and underwater unmanned systems while providing enhanced combat capabilities against a broad spectrum of maritime threats. In addition to operating autonomous platforms, the new vessels will feature greater interoperability with smaller naval assets compared to previous-generation ships. Following the launch, RSS Valour will undergo final outfitting, combat systems integration, and sea acceptance trials before entering service, alongside the training of its inaugural crew. Speaking at the ceremony, Singapore’s Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs, K. Shanmugam, emphasized the fleet’s importance in safeguarding the nation’s maritime trade routes and sovereignty. The 150-meter Victory-class MRCV features a 21-meter beam, accommodates around 100 personnel, and includes a helicopter flight deck, hangar, and advanced sensor suite for navigation and situational awareness. The warship will be equipped with anti-ship, anti-air, and anti-submarine missiles, supported by a Rafael Typhoon 30mm remote weapon station and an OTO Melara Strales 76mm naval gun. Powered by an integrated full-electric propulsion system, it will achieve speeds exceeding 20 knots and an operational range of approximately 7,000 nautical miles.
