In order to improve its mine countermeasures capabilities, Sweden has agreed to purchase “Gavia” autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) from Teledyne Marine. The deal is worth 190 million Swedish kronor ($17 million) and will expire in 2028, with the potential for an extension. The Swedish Navy will be able to map the seabed, create high-resolution sonar images, and perform object detection thanks to the AUV.
