Northrop Grumman has been given a $24.9 million contract by the US Department of Defense for a novel research and development initiative on autonomous underwater sensing. The Full Spectrum Undersea Warfare Innovative Naval Prototype Autonomous Undersea Exploitation program seeks to improve the US Navy’s capacity for autonomous underwater threat detection. It requires advancing the boundaries of sonar-based perception and exploitation capabilities by developing specialized algorithms and sensor systems.
