For anti-mine operations, Sweden has contracted Saab to purchase an unspecified quantity of its autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), the AUV62-MR. The AUV62-MR is intended to assist the navy in underwater reconnaissance operations by identifying possible threats. It is able to map huge swaths of the seabed and produce high-resolution sonar images in order to find and categorize underwater mines and other items that might represent security risks.
