The Rheinmetall L52 155mm, 52-caliber cannon is an improvement over the current 39-caliber M109A7 platform in the M109-52.
The M109-52 is now one of the Army’s potential answers for its long-range precision fires needs after the Extended Range Cannon Artillery program, which sought to deploy a 58-caliber cannon but was abandoned due to excessive barrel wear, was canceled.
