Venezuela has reportedly fielded Iranian Peykaap III fast attack craft in its Caribbean waters, sparking regional defense concerns. A video online shows the small, high-speed vessels maneuvering, though independent verification is pending. Built by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Navy, Peykaap IIIs measure 17 meters and exceed 50 knots. Armed with heavy machine guns and CM-90 anti-ship missiles (90 km range), they excel at swarm and hit-and-run tactics against larger ships. Their arrival provides Venezuela with asymmetric strike power, enhancing its ability to threaten maritime infrastructure despite limited conventional naval strength. Analysts warn that their presence could alter the security balance in the southern Caribbean.
