U.S. shipbuilder Ingalls Shipbuilding has delivered the Arleigh Burke-class Flight III guided missile destroyer USS Ted Stevens (DDG 128) to the U.S. Navy from its Pascagoula, Mississippi facility, marking a major milestone in the Navy’s surface fleet modernization drive. The delivery reinforces the expansion of Flight III destroyer production as the Navy adapts to Distributed Maritime Operations and increasingly contested maritime environments. Equipped with the AN/SPY-6(V)1 Air and Missile Defense Radar and Aegis Baseline 10, DDG 128 significantly enhances air, missile, and ballistic missile defense capabilities, offering greater sensitivity, tracking accuracy, and survivability. With over 80 Arleigh Burke-class destroyers delivered or planned, the handover underscores strong industrial momentum and the class’s enduring role as the backbone of U.S. naval power.
