Brazil and Germany are expanding naval cooperation through an order for four additional Tamandaré-class frigates. Built domestically by the Águas Azuis consortium, the ships are designed to replace aging fleet units and improve operational capability. Derived from the MEKO A-100 platform, these frigates combine compact size with multi-role functionality, including air defence, anti-ship, and anti-submarine systems. The program reflects Brazil’s focus on indigenous shipbuilding and long-term naval modernization.
