Under a $44-million US Navy initiative awarded to Savvee Consulting, Agile Defense has secured a major subcontract to strengthen the Military Sealift Command’s (MSC) global IT systems. The five-year program will modernize digital infrastructure, boost cybersecurity readiness, and enhance operational efficiency across the Navy’s maritime logistics network.

Agile Defense will deliver cybersecurity engineering, analytics, and sustainment services to help secure the MSC’s fleet of 130-plus civilian-operated ships that supply fuel, equipment, and munitions to US and allied forces worldwide. According to Agile Defense Vice President Jay Burkhardt, the collaboration reinforces the firm’s role in delivering secure digital solutions for critical naval missions.

The effort supports the Navy’s broader modernization strategy aimed at improving network resilience and mission assurance under Department of Defense cyber initiatives. Headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, MSC oversees a diverse fleet including fleet oilers, surveillance, and hospital ships. The command recently introduced John Lewis-class refueling vessels and strengthened cyber protections across its auxiliary fleet. Earlier in 2025, MSC upgraded its Global Maritime Operations Center to enable real-time logistics coordination on a global scale.
