South Korea has presented three major defense proposals to Greece as part of the EU’s €800B rearmament program. First, shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean offered help building new submarines and modernizing Greece’s Type 214 fleet, with 25% of work done in Greek shipyards. Second, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) proposed creating manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) “Loyal Wingman” drones, working alongside fighter jets for joint missions. These could link into South Korea’s KF-21 Boramae fighter program, opening domestic production in Greece. Third, Seoul suggested co-producing modern combat vehicles to replace Greece’s aging fleet. All three ideas align with Greece’s modernization plans, and officials have shown strong interest. These projects would develop industries inside Greece while bringing advanced capabilities.
