BAE Systems has teamed up with the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center (DEVCOM-AC) to advance the M109-52 Self-Propelled Howitzer prototype. Through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA), the partnership aims to accelerate enhancements in long-range fire capabilities, technology improvements, and upgrades to artillery systems currently used by Soldiers in the field.
The M109-52 prototype offers a low-risk, cost-effective solution that delivers essential warfighting capabilities more quickly.
This CRADA builds on prior independent efforts and testing by both BAE Systems and DEVCOM-AC, streamlining the development path for new artillery technologies and lethality enhancements for the M109A7 Paladin.
Ongoing work will be conducted at Picatinny Arsenal and across BAE Systems’ extensive U.S. defense facilities, including locations in Anniston, Alabama; Elgin, Oklahoma; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Sterling Heights, Michigan; and York, Pennsylvania.
