Equipped with indigenous sonar technologies, lightweight torpedoes, anti-submarine rocket launchers, and specialized combat systems, the vessel enhances the Navy’s ability to identify, monitor, and engage hostile submarines operating near strategic maritime assets. Built by Cochin Shipyard Limited with a high proportion of indigenous components, INS Malvan further demonstrates India’s commitment to strengthening domestic naval shipbuilding under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
