Otokar has officially revealed the first Cobra II armored mobility vehicle manufactured in Romania, signaling the launch of local production for the Romanian military’s large-scale armored vehicle acquisition project. The unveiling took place at a defense convention in Bucharest and represents a key milestone in the partnership between Turkey and Romania in defense manufacturing. While initial systems are being supplied directly from Turkey, the majority of the 1,059-vehicle order will be assembled domestically at Otokar’s Mediaș facility, helping Romania expand its industrial defense capabilities and local workforce expertise. During the event, the company also showcased the Tulpar infantry fighting vehicle and a collaborative unmanned ground vehicle project, highlighting Otokar’s broader ambitions in armored and autonomous combat systems across the European market.
