Thailand has moved to strengthen security along its eastern frontier by introducing new 8×8 amphibious wheeled armored vehicles designed to improve mobility across land and water environments. The new platforms are intended to support a broad range of missions, including border patrol, sovereignty protection, emergency response, and rapid deployment in difficult terrain. Their amphibious capability gives Thai forces added flexibility in riverine, coastal, and marshland regions where conventional wheeled vehicles may face limitations. The vehicles are also structured to work alongside the Royal Thai Navy’s landing platform dock vessels, allowing direct ship-to-shore movement during amphibious operations. This provides Thailand with improved joint-force capability between land and naval elements, especially during crisis response or regional contingency missions. The acquisition reflects Bangkok’s continued effort to modernize military mobility assets while enhancing readiness along strategically sensitive border zones. With multi-role utility and improved deployment options, the new armored vehicles are expected to strengthen Thailand’s operational reach and response speed in both military and humanitarian scenarios.
