KNDS has unveiled the CAPINT (Intermediary Capability) main battle tank concept, a next-generation armored platform proposed for the French Army. Built on the proven Leopard 2 A8 chassis and powered by a 1,500-horsepower diesel engine, the tank aims to bridge the gap between current armored systems and future combat vehicle programs. A defining feature of CAPINT is its ability to operate seamlessly with unmanned platforms, enabling the deployment of robotic wingmen that can extend reconnaissance, sensing, and battlefield awareness capabilities. By integrating manned and unmanned assets into a unified combat network, the platform is designed to improve survivability, situational awareness, and operational effectiveness in highly contested environments. The concept reflects a broader trend toward digitalized and network-centric armored warfare, where autonomous systems support crewed vehicles in intelligence gathering and threat detection missions.
