The UK’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory has selected Thales and QinetiQ to explore next-generation soft-kill protection systems for military vehicles. The program aims to develop advanced electro-optic countermeasures capable of reducing vehicle detectability and disrupting hostile targeting systems. Unlike hard-kill defenses that physically intercept threats, soft-kill technologies focus on deceiving or confusing enemy sensors and guidance systems. The initiative highlights the increasing importance of electronic survivability solutions in modern land warfare.
