Lithuania has taken a major step in modernizing its land forces by approving the purchase of 100 CV90 MkIV infantry fighting vehicles through a joint European procurement framework. Partnering with five other European nations, the program is designed to strengthen interoperability while achieving economies of scale. The contract is expected to be signed in early 2026, with deliveries commencing two years later. A key component of the deal is the inclusion of local industrial participation, ensuring maintenance, support, and selected component production are conducted domestically. Lithuanian defense authorities highlighted the importance of reliable supply chains and rapid responsiveness to national requirements. The CV90 MkIV, produced by BAE Systems Hägglunds, is a combat-proven platform offering high mobility, modular protection, and flexible armament options. With advanced digital architecture, modern sensors, and fire-control systems, the vehicle is capable of engaging both ground and aerial threats. Already in service with 10 countries, the CV90 family represents a mature yet highly adaptable solution aligned with NATO operational standards.
