The UK Ministry of Defence has outlined plans for a mid-life modernization of the British Army’s Titan and Trojan armored engineer vehicle fleets through an industry partnership framework. According to a transparency notice, the program will be executed in two phases covering development, trials, production, and fleet rollout. Contract values are estimated at £63.3 million for the initial phase and £76 million for the subsequent production phase, excluding VAT. Agreements are expected to be finalized by December 2026, with deliveries continuing through 2033. Defence Equipment and Support has identified Rheinmetall BAE Land Systems as the intended supplier under a direct award approach, citing the company’s technical expertise and the absence of viable alternatives due to safety, interoperability, and capability considerations. The Titan and Trojan vehicles, derived from the Challenger 2 main battle tank, support critical combat engineering roles including route clearance, mine detection, and bridging.
