Hanwha Aerospace’s new KAAV II amphibious assault vehicle represents South Korea’s effort to modernize its marine combat capabilities with improved survivability and firepower. Developed over more than a decade, the platform is designed to transition efficiently between sea and land missions while supporting troops in contested littoral environments. Equipped with a 40mm cannon firing cased telescoped ammunition, the vehicle can engage a wide range of battlefield threats including drones and light armor. Enhanced protection systems, improved onboard sensors, and upgraded mobility features are expected to make the KAAV II a major advancement over the legacy KAAV-7A1 fleet.
