Norway has placed an order for 20 Patria 6×6 armored vehicles through the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System initiative. The initial vehicles will be configured for command-and-control duties and fitted with Protector RS4 remotely operated weapon stations.Alongside the vehicles, the agreement covers training, spare parts, and related support. Norway has also secured options covering an additional 40 C2-configured vehicles and RS4 systems, potentially allowing the fleet to grow significantly in the future.The purchase follows a framework agreement signed by Norway and Patria for serial procurement. Oslo joined the CAVS initiative in 2025, becoming its seventh participating member.CAVS was launched to create a standardized 6×6 armored vehicle solution for participating European countries. The program now includes Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Norway, and the UK. Several members have already received operational vehicles, while the platform has also been used in Ukraine.Patria’s 6×6 platform is designed for multiple military roles and a service life of approximately three decades. The vehicle is around 8 meters long and has a maximum weight of roughly 20 tons, depending on the mission configuration.It can carry a crew of three along with as many as 10 troops. Power comes from a 394-horsepower Scania diesel engine, giving the vehicle a reported top speed of 100 kilometers per hour and a maximum range of approximately 700 kilometers.Norway’s procurement strengthens its armored mobility capabilities while also deepening its participation in a common European vehicle ecosystem. The standardized architecture could provide logistical and operational benefits through greater interoperability among participating nations.
