The Future Ready Combat Vehicle program is driving India’s development of advanced armour systems capable of resisting increasingly powerful armour-piercing ammunition used by modern tanks. DMRL’s research focuses on combining composite materials, reactive armour technologies, and lightweight protection systems to enhance survivability without severely increasing vehicle weight. The initiative is considered strategically important as regional armored threats continue evolving, particularly with neighboring countries fielding more advanced tank ammunition and combat platforms.
