The FICV programme represents one of India’s largest indigenous armoured vehicle initiatives, with an estimated requirement exceeding 2,600 platforms. The vehicle is expected to combine advanced armour, high mobility, modern battlefield management systems, and anti-tank weaponry within a modular design framework. Special emphasis is being placed on protection against drones, mines, artillery fragments, and top-attack threats. Indigenous industry participation in armour technologies and survivability solutions is expected to play a major role in the programme’s success.
