Romania’s Ministry of Defense plans to acquire 44 used Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAVs) from the United States—doubling the number initially proposed in 2023. The move aligns with Bucharest’s broader goal of modernizing the Romanian Army by 2040 and enhancing its capability to counter evolving threats. According to documents reviewed by DefenseRomania, the proposed deal includes AAV-7 variants and has been submitted to parliament for approval.
