France has showcased the Griffon MEPAC, a new self-propelled mortar variant of its 6×6 Griffon armored vehicle, after successful testing at Canjuers training camp. Debuted publicly during the Bastille Day parade, MEPAC features a 120mm semi-automatic mortar integrated into the Scorpion digital battlefield ecosystem. It can fire up to 10 rounds per minute and hit targets 13 kilometers away using conventional or smart munitions. The 25-ton platform includes a turret-mounted 7.62mm machine gun, digital fire coordination tools, and autonomous resupply storage. France received its first 54 units in January 2025 as part of its $1.35-billion ground forces modernization program.
