General Dynamics Land Systems-UK and Ricardo are collaborating to develop light mobility vehicles for the British Army’s Land Mobility Programme (LMP). The program adapts the Ford Ranger Super Duty to military specifications, including payload, off-road capability, and protection upgrades. Prototypes include 4×4 and 6×6 versions, maintaining the Ranger’s drivetrain and safety while incorporating defense-grade modifications. The project aims to consolidate older fleets into versatile platforms, with the first operational systems expected by the end of the decade. It also supports UK industrial participation and long-term sustainment networks.
