The Canadian government has moved forward with a major modernization initiative by securing 26 HIMARS launchers from the United States through the Foreign Military Sales program. Valued at approximately $1.88 billion, the package includes operational support, ammunition stocks, training, and logistics services. The highly mobile rocket artillery system will provide Canada with a long-range precision strike capability capable of engaging targets hundreds of kilometers away. In addition to supporting conventional land operations, the platform could eventually be adapted for anti-ship missions, improving Canada’s ability to protect strategic maritime approaches and Arctic territories.
