Northrop Grumman has selected satellite manufacturer Apex to support the development and demonstration of space-based interceptor technologies under the US Space Force’s Golden Dome missile defense initiative. The partnership combines Northrop Grumman’s expertise in missile defense systems, advanced manufacturing, and artificial intelligence-enabled technologies with Apex’s experience in satellite platform development. The effort aims to advance a future orbital defense architecture capable of detecting and intercepting ballistic, cruise, and hypersonic missile threats from space. Northrop plans to demonstrate an on-orbit capability by 2027, building on a series of successful ground-based tests completed earlier this year.
