German defense company Diehl Defence has introduced its latest short-range air defense solution, the IRIS-T SLS MK4, at the ILA Berlin Air Show 2026. The new system combines radar, command-and-control functions, missile launchers, and effectors onto a single vehicle platform, creating a highly mobile and self-contained air defense asset. Designed as an all-in-one SHORAD solution, the IRIS-T SLS MK4 is intended to improve operational flexibility while reducing deployment complexity. A major enhancement in the latest version is an eightfold increase in payload capacity, enabling operators to engage a larger number of aerial threats during sustained operations and significantly improving battlefield effectiveness.
